It would seem that lately the girls are becoming just as violent or even more so than boys. Used to be that girls were more prone to fussing and arguing and talking bad about each other. True you had your occasional fight...but that wasn't the norm. Nor was it was normal to expect girls to run in packs and brutally beat someone.

Another major story in the news has everyone questioning what is going on, and whether or not girls are becoming more violent than boys? I don't know what is going on but...someone better start taking a closer look at what is going on...after all these are future wives and mother's...

Whose to Blame?

I read a blog the other day where someone was ranting about hollywood returning to blackface. Apparently they were upset about a movie being made by Ben Stiller, in which Robert Downey Jr. plays the role of a black man with make-up on.

I didn't know what to think, I know that Ben Stiller usually pokes fun of things, so I was sure there was more to it than what the person had seen or heard. I had the chance to see some of the previews over the weekend, and the whole thing makes a bit more since to me now...I grabbed a copy of the trailer so you can see for yourself...what do you think?

I'm finally getting back into the swing of things. I had been pursuing a lot of other things and my personal writing was being neglected. I had forgotten how much fun writing really is.

I wonder what exactly it is going to take to make us wake up. How much stuff is enough? While we are off chasing the American dream are we leaving our children behind?

The other I day, was saddened as I read about a group of nine year olds who plotted against their teacher, the plan was to crack the teacher over the head, handcuff and then stab the teacher. Their plan included creating a diversion and even a clean up crew.

The World remembers Dr King

I have been thinking about the past a lot lately. As I am approaching my fortieth birthday, it is also been 40 years since the assassination of Dr Martin Luther King Jr.

Maybe because I am getting older I am getting more nostalgic reflecting on things of the past. I was working on a piece for AC Content, I tried to filter through my thoughts on whether or not our younger generation actually "gets it" or if Dr King is just another good guy in the pages of our history books. You can read the article and discover my conclusion here.


As I sat going through my thought and reflecting on Dr King's legacy and contribution, I found that I also began reflect on my own contributions (or lack thereof) toward society. Have I done anything noteworthy or anything that would effect change?

Approaching the 40 year mark has me reevaluating some things. One thing I am discovering is that it takes a bit more work to do some of the thing that I used to take for granted. Even little small things like taking the time to relax and enjoy life seems like a task.

With all of the things on my "Have To Get Done List" it's easy to get all busy and caught up in working,and not stop to just relax and have fun. Somewhere in between making a mark and enjoying life, there is a happy balance. My goal for this year is to find that happy middle ground.

It used to be every once in awhile that you would hear about some kid being bad and disruptive at school. Then it progressed to the occasional occurrences where a kid or kids would show up at school and arrange an impromptu target practice. It would seem that with each new case that involves violence at school, the culprits are getting younger and younger.

I was actually shocked and disturbed to hear about a group of 9 year olds who plotted to assault their 3rd grade teacher. What bothers me is that these youngster were organized, having assigned each other task like look out and clean up after the dirty deed was done.

The plan was foiled when one of the students spilled their guts, officials found the kids prepared with a heavy glass paper weight, rope, a rusty steak knife and duct tape. The plan was to crack the teacher over the head and then tie them up and stab them. Apparently the students were upset because the teacher had scolded one of them.

It might just be my opinion, but things started heading down this track when kids became armed with information that said that parents and authority couldn't doing anything to them. I have personally seen little kids hold their parents hostage by threatening to scream child abuse.
I served notice to my children early on that I would prefer to be able to reason with them, but should they give me a reason I had no fear of knocking them the heck out! Having grown up under a heavy handed father I can't stand or tolerate the abuse of a child, but I think that we have lumped discipline of any kind into the abuse pile, and now we are seeing the results of it. Children at younger and younger ages are committing some of the most violent crimes and they do so with little to no remorse.

I used to complain a lot about the fact that my dad beat my tail on the regular, but on the flip side I can see now that if he hadn't...I am pretty sure that I would have been one of those evening news stories or worse I'd be dead!

I think we need to make an adjustment, I'm not for beating or abusing a kid...but we need to do something to restore some order. If a group of renegade 9 year olds isn't enough to get our attention....I'm not sure what will.
